Social Media Header Dimensions

Social Media Header DimensionsWhat are all the social media header dimensions?

As an executive assistant, I often create a social media header for a client. Nothing frustrates me more than having to scour the internet for this year’s latest social media header dimensions.

Here I have done all of the work. I thought I would share them with you and save you some time! This was updated at the end of October 2022.

Facebook Page Cover Image

The Facebook Page cover image is recommended to be 851 pixels wide by 315 pixels tall. According to Hootsuite, this displays at 820 pixels wide by 312 pixels tall on your Page on desktops and 640 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall on smartphones. For faster loading times, use an sRGB JPG file that is 851 pixels wide and 315 pixels tall, and less than 100 kilobytes.

Twitter Header Image

According to Twitter, the recommended dimensions for the Twitter Header Image are 1500 x 500 pixels. Photos can be JPG, GIF, or PNG. Twitter does not support animated GIFs for either the profile or header images. The maximum file size is 2 MB. Remember that different monitor sizes and browsers can crop your image by 60 pixels on the top and bottom.

LinkedIn Background Photo

LinkedIn provides a very comprehensive size guide for images and videos. LinkedIn recommends background images be between 1584 x 396 pixels. They can be JPG, GIF, or PNG but no larger than 4 MB.

YouTube Channel Art

For your YouTube Channel, the recommended optimal size is 2560 x 1440 pixels. YouTube has a Photoshop template available to download.

YouTube Channel Art Desktop

To see your channel art optimally on a desktop, you only see a 2560 x 423-pixel area in the middle of the image. The safe area is 1546 x 423, centered on the image.

YouTube Channel Art TV

The complete image will be shown when the aspect ratio is 16:9.

YouTube Channel Art Mobile

The display on mobile devices changes according to the width of the mobile screen. It uses the above-referenced text and logo safe area. The action bar is automatically selected, backed by the prominent colors of your channel art. A tablet will use a slightly wider area of your safe area, up to 1855 pixels by 423 pixels.

Enjoy creating! Feel free to let me know if any updates occur. Some platforms seem to change constantly.

If you need help, let me know. I have a fabulous graphic designer who loves social media header dimensions and branding.
