Team Building
Why a Business Owner Needs to Build a Team for Success
What factors contribute to your business’s success? You could say things like having a solid product and being unique. Yet, no matter what your product or service is, if you cannot present it properly or communicate your message effectively, your business will fail. Team building is vital to the growth of your business.
If your team cannot meet the needs and demands of your customers, while also exceeding their expectations, your business growth will slow and stall. Yet, if you build a solid team, one dedicated to your business objectives, you’ll see your company grow and develop into a well-respected brand. That brand loyalty can bring incredible growth over the years.
I recently posted about a company that NEVER communicated with me. They didn’t send me reminders that a payment was due. They didn’t email me about updates to my service. They didn’t even email me when I they billed my credit card. My emails to them went unanswered. So frustrating! I eventually was able to disentangle myself from their company. Now I have started receiving 2 or 3 emails a week inviting me to come back to them. IT AIN’T HAPPENING FOLKS!
Marketing Wizdom says
“The average business loses around 20 percent of its customers annually simply by failing to attend to customer relationship. In some industries this leakage is as high as 80 percent.”
Ouch!
At the Heart is Team Building
Having the right talent is at the very heart of building a successful business. Talent describes more than just a group of people working for you. Each person must bring something interesting, valuable, and unique to the table. And, together, these individuals should be contributing to providing an outstanding end result. The long-term success of your company is building a comprehensive team that’s well-matched to offer different skill sets but who can each see the same vision for the company.
You’re the Leader
Even the best leaders recognize they simply cannot succeed without other like-minded people working with them. For example, you have the skill to make the product. But, perhaps your sales skills are not the most ideal. Or, you may be fantastic at marketing but struggle with meeting the legalities of your business.
Even within the individual functions of your business – such as closing sales and handling customer support, having individuals with ample skill can allow you to build a successful company from the ground up.
What Are the Benefits of a Well-Crafted Team for Your Business?
Take a closer look at what benefits occur when you have a team that’s built for success. Here’s what you’ll find when you build this type of team:
- The right talent matched to each other will improve your chances for success. Each member contributes something important, a piece to the complete puzzle. Together, you work as a well-oiled machine.
- A team gives you more time to focus on what you do best. You can trust someone else to provide the very best level of service while you focus on the innovations that will propel your company forward.
- When problems arise, your team is there to steady the ship. Even when there is turmoil within your business, when you have a well-structured and selected team, the pieces come together to eat up the slack, creating a way to ensure your company continues to head in the right direction.
If you are a business owner, you’ll focus first on your idea and business plan. Then, work to build your team. Each member must be able to see the total vision of your company but also must be able to contribute to the group. When you do this, not only does it help your business to grow, but it allows for your team to thrive as one.
